ABOUT US
Dana R. Johnson
Dana Johnson is a proud U.S. Army veteran, retired federal law enforcement officer, and the visionary founder of Pen of Purpose Publishing LLC. With over 8 years of military service, including a deployment to Iraq, and 20 years of dedicated service in the Federal Bureau of Prisons as both a Correctional Officer and Recreation Specialist, Dana brings a wealth of lived experience, resilience, and leadership to every page she publishes.
After retiring from federal service, Dana transformed her passion for storytelling, healing, and justice into a bold new mission: to amplify unheard voices, uplift justice-impacted individuals, female offenders, and veterans, and create powerful tools that inspire change. Through Pen of Purpose Publishing LLC—a proudly Black, woman, and veteran-owned independent company—Dana now publishes books, journals, planners, and youth activity resources that reflect themes of survival, growth, and self-empowerment.
Her flagship series, Justice or Just US (Justice Impacted-themed coloring books), is a raw, reflective, and restorative journey created for justice-impacted individuals, their families, and the communities that support them.
Dana blends creativity with purpose. She is using her platform to champion second chances, mental wellness, and community transformation, one story at a time.
